Masa nih dah dekat 5 in.
Snow tengah lebat
 


We got 6 in. of snow today. The kids' school was closed, of course... . We all stayed home, mommy couldn't go to school. Everytime when it snows it's not safe to drive, because of our hilly geography. Pagi2 apa lagi.. berlegar jer dlm kepala mommy nak masak apa.. yelah.. nak buat kerja kat umah pun mana boleh... 3 askar tu sapa nak layan.



Menu pagi2 dimulakan dgn pulut inti (pedas). Pulut fav Hanna dan abg ngah.. kalau buat pulut diorg boleh makan pulut jer sehari suntuk! Biasalah.. mommy yg malas nak mengukus (lagi plak pun malas nak bermesra dgn kukusan bidang terjun tu), jadi mommy tanak jer pulut dgn santan.. jadi ler pulut lemak express. Inti pedas? Ni resepi dia.


Inti pulut pedas:
1.5 cup kelapa parut... (I used desiccated coconut + santan skit)
3-2 ulas bwg merah dan putih - blend
1 cm halis - blend
1 btg serai - blend (tumbuk lagi bagus, why? sebab my mom buat cam tu )
1-3 tbs cili kering yg siap diblend
1 tsp serbuk kunyit
Udang basah - ikut berapa ekor yg suka (potong kecik2, kalau guna udang besar)
segenggam udang kering - blend

Senang jer masukkan semua dlm periuk dan masak sehingga masak! (dan sehingga inti agak kering.




Lepas makan.. kami rehat2 sambil tengok snow turun. Biasalah mommy mana boleh duduk diam.. lebih baik back to my kitchen. I made kek lapis haw flakes. Inilah my first official kek lapis!
Resepi tak ingat plak dpt kat mana, sebab memang dok dlm kiv. Ni dia resepi dia.. sapa2 yg rasa ini resepi asal dia, boleh tampil ke depan utk menerima award, sebab memang sedap kek nih.



TAK LEH MAKAN BYK2.. NANTI GEMUK!

Kek Lapis Haw Flakes:
250 g butter
250 g condensed milk
Beat together until light and fluffy

6 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp ovelette (I used cream of tartar)
Beat until well mixed and thick.

2 cups softasilk flour (all purpose/self-raising pun boleh)
2 tbs baking powder (tak perlu kalau pakai self-raising)
Ayak 2-3 kali

Masukkan adunan butter ke dlm adunan telur... mix sampai sebati.. pastu masukkan tpg sedikit demi sedikit. Tak yah kacau lama2. Bahagikan adunan kepada beberapa bhg utk diwarnakan. I used only two colors - red and green. Masukkan setiap adunan ke dlm piping beg. Ini utk memudahkan melayer kek. Bakarlah selapis demi selapis sambil melapis dgn haw flakes.



Part nak bakar ni tricky skit. My oven kat US ni tak canggih mana. Dia hanya boleh di set kepada warm hingga ke 550 F. Pastu kalau turn knob sampai habis go to broil. Bila time broil nih.. tak leh nak set temperature dia. Dlm kata lain utk api atas, saya tak tau temperature dia, yg pasti, memang panas! What I did was, set to broil.. letak kek kat paling bawah dan bukak pintu oven seluas2 nya! It worked!!! . Last sekali bila semua dah terlapis, bakar selama 10 min 325 F


TIME NI SNOW DAH TURUN DEKAT 5 IN.

Masa dok tengah buat cake nih, godaan sungguh diorg dah pergi main luar... Walaupun umurku sudah meningkat tp jiwa tu tetap di tahap dulu (kanak2 )! . Geram tengok diorg dok sliding.. kek ada 4 lapis lagi! Suhu kat luar tak ler sejuk sgt.. around 25 F.. sesuai sgt utk berkubang dlm snow. Sungguh, I like to do that!

kak..kita dah try buat coconut cake tu baru jap ni..i think u miss something la kak..milk. Mujur tengah beat butter etc baca2 then kat method ada sebut milk..tengok atas takde..cecepat kita cari kat site epicurious tu..n luckily click on the right recipe..now, dah siap bakar..phew! the smell so good! yummy! memang sedap! thanks kak will update in my fp later..
